On Friday I friend got us tickets to see Portland’s legendary drag show cabaret Darcelle XV MC’d by the 78 year old Darcelle herself.
While there our friend’s uncle Robert had a close encounter with another famous Portland drag queen, Poison Waters.

Let The Change Begin
Last March when then Senator Obama he came through Portland fairly early in the primary season. He appeared with New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson who used the opportunity to offer his endorsement.
So now we are 22 days into a new year. We have a new president, and I’ve got a new blog, and a whole new site in the works. So this should mark the end of the long absence of the Photo of the Day. I’ve been doing a lot of different thing these past few months and have a lot of images to post.
I never knew that dogs were a contentious issue in urban neighborhoods
I was recently working on a story about dogs and gentrification for my local paper, the Portland Sentinel (read it here http://www.portlandsentinel.com)
One of he people I met was Jamie, pictured above. He works as a mail carrier in Northeast Portland. Recently he was severely injured when he was mauled. He says the dog that did it still lives on his route.
Another man I met said that he never puts his dog on a leash just to prove that nothing is going to happen.
Not owning a dog myself, I’ve been pretty unaware of the tension and fear that dogs in the city can cause.
Sorry for missing posts last week—I’ve been sick, but am feeling much better now.
Movies on Top
Every year the NW Film Center presents a film series on the top level of a downtown parking garage. Called Top Down, the venue offers great views on warm summer evenings. Before the movie, food drink and live music is available.
Junior Ambassador’s Home Made Ice Cream
All the ice cream is hand made by by the proprietor. It’s some of the best I’ve had, though I have not had the courage to try the vegetable flavored ice creams yet. He sells his wares from the small orange stand you see pictured above. He’s there 12 months a year—from noon to sunset.
